About the Filtration

Austin employs one of the best all-in-one filters that we’ve ever seen for an air purifier. What you normally get with combined filter systems is thin layers of filtration which don’t do as good of a job at filtering out contaminants for very long.  That’s not the case with the Pet Machine which provides animal lovers with the perfect customized amount of HEPA filter material, Activated Carbon and pre-filter screening so you and your pet can enjoy fresh air for up to 5 years without having to replace your filter. Just vacuum the outer pre-filter once a month and let your Austin Pet Machine do the rest.

As air is drawn through the Pet Machine 360 degrees, it goes through the first layer which is the pre-filter.  Most pre-filters work to trap large-sized particles like dander, feathers, hair, dust, pollens and other allergens at a larger micron size. The second stage is another pre-filter called the Medium Particle Filter.  This is very similar to the first layer, only the Medium Filter captures particles even smaller than the Pre-Filter. The reason for the two pre-filters is to protect the next two layers of filtration: Activated Carbon and the HEPA filter. The third stage is a proprietary blend of Specialty Carbons and Zeolite which is proprietary to Austin and is extremely effective at removing odors, formaldehyde, gases and even ammonia and sulfuric acid. This may be more protection than you’re looking for but for most customers it’s peace of mind as we continuously fight to keep our indoor air quality free of household chemicals.  The next filter is the HEPA filter which not only traps but also destroys bacteria, viruses and allergens down to 0.3 microns in size, 99.97% of the time.  This filter is also considered “Medical Grade” because of its ability to trap and destroy particles as fine as 0.1 microns in size but the efficiency is drops down to 95%.  Having a Medical Grade HEPA filter in your bird room, living room or bedroom is truly an added bonus because the fine particles below 0.3 microns in size that float around in our environment are really the most damaging to our lungs.  You’ll love your Austin Air Pet Machine - For Life™
